Produced by Georgian Entertainment and airing on IFC, this eight-part documentary series gets to the very core of an artist’s existence through uncensored conversations and unbridled access to musicians surviving in a business that kills thousands of dreams a day. Welcome to the raw side. Premiering on Tuesday, October 28 at 8 p.m. (ET) on IFC, and using artful cinematography and in-depth interviews, The Rawside Of … gives viewers exclusive behind-the-scenes access into the glamorous and gritty lives of musicians such as The Cliks, Die Mannequin, Metric, Born Ruffians, Gracer, The Bourbon Tabernacle Choir, Dodger (with Skye Sweetnam) and Brendan Canning of Broken Social Scene. The series captures the real lives of those in the spotlight – at home, on the road and in the studio. Each episode shows the artists in a very unique and private way and features an exclusive stripped-down performance component in an intimate setting, integrated into the story. “With so many fantastic acts coming out of Canada, now could arguably be the most exciting time in Canadian music. We think this is a really refreshing look at the ever-evolving music scene in Canada,” said Christopher Szarka, executive producer. Acclaimed filmmaker Bruce McDonald (Pontypool, Hard Core Logo and Highway 61) directs three episodes. Other notable directors include award-winning filmmaker Liz Marshall; music video directors Sean Wainsteim and Rob Pilichowski; and series creator and executive producer, Jagori Tanna (I Mother Earth).
